According to some, Mediation (also known as Family Dispute Resolution) is a necessary step because you need a s60I certificate from the Mediator to get into Court…
My response to that is WHY? Why would you waste an opportunity to keep your family out of court??
Mediation provides a rare opportunity to actually save money (compared to family law litigation) so why wouldn’t you be trying your best to try and reach agreements and get the whole thing over and done??
In my experience, preparing for Mediation is super important and can really make a difference in terms of whether agreements can be reached, or not.
Why not book an appointment with me before you enter mediation / FDR so you can be better able to deal with issues, obstacles and, potentially, reach agreements more easily?
For a relatively small cost ($250) I am happy to meet with you by zoom for an hour prior to your mediation session. I can help you prepare what to say, how to respond to what you hear, what documents you might need, what questions you should ask, and anything else you might need, so that you can get the most value out of your mediation appointment.
